Insert the torque converter all the way into the gearbox.
Rotate the torque converter while pressing it lightly against the gearbox.
The torque converter will perceptibly slide further into the transmission as the groove in the torque converter hub engages inwardly into the pump drive wheel.
When installing the torque converter, the outer edge of the sealing ring may bend «inside».
Therefore, again remove the torque converter from the gearbox by 5 mm.
This ensures that the sealing lip is in its correct position (pic. 3.6).
Then insert the torque converter all the way into the gearbox.
The torque converter is installed correctly if the gearbox can be attached to the engine flange without force.
If this is not the case, the installation of the torque converter should be checked.
WARNING: If the torque converter is installed incorrectly, the engine and gearbox must be screwed together with considerable force, which causes defects in the gearbox and torque converter.
After installing the gearbox, check the ATF level and add oil.
