Removal and installation the selector rod (VW Touareg 1)

NOTE: If you secure the cord to the rod before removing it, the rod can be reinserted when reinstalling.


Removal



Remove the gear shift drive.

Press the cuff forward out of the support cup (Fig. 3.13).

To remove the selector rod, simply lower the transfer case.

Lower the transfer case.

Remove lock washer 1.

Disconnect selector rod 2 from the gear selector lever/rod (fig. 3.11).

Installation



Install the selector rod into the support cup 1.

Press cap 2 with its entire surface against the support cup (Fig. 3.14).

Install the transfer case.

Carefully press selector rod 2 against the gear selector lever/rod (fig. 3.11). Do not bend the gear selector lever/rod, otherwise it will not be possible to accurately adjust the gear shift.



Replace lock washer 1.

Press the cuff 2 with its entire surface against the support cup.

Install the gear shift drive (Fig. 3.13).
