Removal and installation the flange on the drive disk side (VW Touareg 1)

Removal

Remove the engine.

Disconnect the engine and gearbox.

Remove the drive disc.

Remove the oil pan.

Remove the flange (fig. 2.103) from the cylinder block.



Remove the old gasket.

Installation

NOTE: In the following job description, the O-ring is shown without the flange.

NOTE: In case of repair, the flange should be replaced together with the sealing ring. For installation, use the support sleeve included in the kit.

Clean the mounting surfaces of the flange and cylinder block. They must be free of oil and grease.

Remove any remaining oil from the crankshaft journal using a clean rag.

Install new gasket 1 onto the fitted bushings in the cylinder block (fig. 2.104).



Place the sealing ring together with flange A with its outer side through sleeve T10122/ 1 onto tightening sleeve T10122/ 2.



Disconnect both mounting bushings.

Then place the T10122/2 tightening sleeve with a dry sealing ring on the crankshaft connecting rod journal (fig. 2.105).



Screw the flange to the cylinder block. Tightening torque: 10 Nm.

Install the oil pan.

Install the drive disk.

Install the engine.
