The additional heater is designed to heat the coolant. Depending on the need for additional heat, the heater can operate in the following modes.
Description of operation of the Thermo Top V heater
The temperature at the temperature sensor "G18" is less than 50°C. The temperature at the outside air temperature sensor "G17" is less than +5°C. When switched on, the additional heater is switched to standby mode. The glow plug with flame sensor "Q8", the combustion air supply fan "V6" and the circulation pump "V55" are switched to operating mode. After 30 seconds, the metering pump -V54- is switched on and the combustion air supply fan "V6" is switched off for 3 seconds. Then, for 56 seconds, the combustion air supply fan "V6" will increase its speed in two stages almost to full load mode. After the 15-second stabilization phase (constant speed) the combustion air supply fan "V6" will increase its speed almost to full load mode for 50 seconds. When full load mode and maximum fuel supply are reached, the glow plug with flame sensor "Q8" is switched off, and the combustion air supply fan "V6" is switched to full load mode. During the next 45 seconds, as well as in normal combustion mode, the glow plug flame sensor with flame sensor "Q8" monitors the presence of combustion in the combustion chamber. Then the heater switches to automatic control mode. When flame attenuation is detected, fuel supply is interrupted and the heater is switched off due to a malfunction and purged by the combustion air supply fan "V6" (operating mode after shutdown). If the flame goes out in normal mode, the heater automatically starts up again.
Additional heating mode
After the coolant temperature rises to 84°C, the heater is switched to energy-saving mode by the control unit. After a further increase in the coolant temperature to 88°C, the heater is switched to Stop mode by the control unit (break in work). If in Stop mode the coolant temperature drops below 76°C for more than 900 seconds, then upon reaching this temperature the heater will start in normal mode with full load.
Autonomous heating mode
Turning on the independent heater in cars without air conditioning:

Press the heater switch "1".
Switching on the independent heater in cars with the Climatic air conditioning system:

Press the heater switch "1".
Switching on the independent heater in cars with Climatronic climate control system:

Press the heater switch "1". After the coolant temperature rises to 82°C, the heater is switched to energy-saving mode by the control unit. After a further increase in the coolant temperature to 38°C, the heater is switched to Stop mode by the control unit (break in work). If in Stop mode the coolant temperature drops below 70°C for more than 900 seconds, then upon reaching 65°C the heater will start in normal mode with full load.
Shutdown
After manual shutdown or after the maximum operating time (60 minutes) or when the coolant heats up to 84°C, the combustion process is interrupted and the heater switches to the operating mode after shutdown. The circulation pump "V55" and the combustion air supply fan "V6" continue to operate to cool the heater (operating mode after shutdown), and then turn off automatically.
Instructions: The operating time in this mode of the circulation pump "V55" and the combustion chamber air supply fan "V6" depends on the state of the heater at the time of switching off.
The operating time in this mode is 175 seconds - when switching off the heater operating in full load mode, and 110 seconds - when switching off the heater operating in partial load mode. Depending on the software version in the control unit, it is possible to switch off the heater during a different time interval.
