Description of operation of the Thermo Top V heater
Temperature at temperature sender -G18- is less than 50°C. The temperature at the outside temperature sender -G17- is below +5°C. When switched on, the additional heater is switched to standby mode. Glow plug with flame monitor -Q8-, combustion air blower -V6- and circulation pump -V55- are switched into operation. After 30 seconds, the metering pump -V54- is switched on and the combustion air blower -V6- is switched off for 3 seconds. Then, within 56 seconds, the combustion air blower -V6- will increase its speed in two stages to almost full load. After the 15 second stabilization phase (constant speed) The combustion air blower -V6- will increase its speed almost to full load within 50 seconds. When full load and maximum fuel delivery are reached, the glow plug with flame monitor -Q8- is switched off and the combustion air blower -V6- is switched to full load. For the next 45 seconds, as well as in normal combustion mode, the glow plug flame sensor with flame monitor -Q8- monitors the presence of combustion in the combustion chamber. The heater then switches to automatic control mode. When a flame failure is detected, the fuel supply is interrupted and the heater is switched off due to a fault and is purged by the combustion air blower -V6- (operating mode after shutdown). If the flame goes out in normal mode, the heater automatically restarts.
Additional heating mode
After the coolant temperature rises to 84°C, the heater is switched to energy-saving mode by the control unit. After a further increase in the coolant temperature to 88°C, the heater is switched by the control unit to the Stop mode (pause at work). If in Stop mode the coolant temperature drops below 76°C for more than 900 seconds, the heater will start up in normal full load mode when this temperature is reached.
Autonomous heating mode
Switching on the auxiliary heater in vehicles without air conditioning:
Press the heater button -1-.
Switching on the auxiliary heater in vehicles with Climatic:
Press the heater button -1-.
Switching on the auxiliary heater in vehicles with Climatronic air conditioning system:
Press the heater button -1-. After the coolant temperature rises to 82°C, the heater is switched by the control unit to energy-saving mode. After a further increase in the coolant temperature to 38°C, the heater is switched by the control unit to the Stop mode (pause at work). If, in Stop mode, the coolant temperature drops below 70°C for more than 900 seconds, then when the temperature reaches 65°C, the heater will start in normal mode with full load.
Shutdown
After a manual switch-off or after the maximum operating time has elapsed (60 minutes) or when the coolant is heated to 84°C, the combustion process is interrupted and the heater switches to the operating mode after switching off. Circulation pump -V55- and combustion air blower -V6- continue to operate to cool the heater (operating mode after shutdown), and then turn off automatically.
Note: The operating time of the circulation pump -V55- and the combustion air blower -V6- in this mode depends on the state of the heater at the moment of switching off.
The operating time in this mode is 175 seconds - when the heater is turned off, operating in full load mode, and 110 seconds - when the heater is turned off, operating in partial load mode. Depending on the software version in the control unit, it is possible to turn off the heater during a different time interval.
