Note: The metering pump -V54- for the diesel heater has a gray plastic housing, for the petrol heater it has a black housing. Fuel cut-off valve -N109- (in the auxiliary heater) prevents fuel from entering the combustion chamber after switching off the auxiliary heater. In order to be able to depressurize the fuel line between the fuel cut-off valve -N109- and the metering pump -V54-, a bypass is provided in the metering pump -V54-. Install nodes with the corresponding number. The metering pump -V54- is only supplied by the spare parts service as a complete unit with the parts and assemblies installed on it. To remove the metering pump -V54-, it is only necessary to lower the fuel tank slightly using the engine and gearbox jack -VAG 1383 A-.
Removing
Unplug connector -1- for fuel gauge sender -G-.
Caution - danger! Fuel leak! The fuel in the power system is under pressure.
Detach fuel hose at quick coupling -4-. Remove wires from holders. Detach bracket -2- for metering pump -V54- -3- from fuel tank. Loosen the lower clamp of the fuel pipe coupling -5- on the fuel level sender -G- and remove the fuel pipe from the fitting of the fuel level sender.
Installation
Note: The metering pump -V54- for the diesel heater has a gray plastic housing, for the petrol heater it has a black housing. Remove shipping plugs before installation. Replace clamp clamps with screw clamps.
Push the fuel pipe -5- into the connection for the fuel gauge sender -G- until the coupling stops at the connection. Ensure correct installation position of metering pump -V54-. Position bracket -2- for metering pump -V54- -3- on fuel tank. Connect fuel hose to quick coupling -4-. Connect connector -1-. Seal the wire harness adapter grommet.
