- no signs of battery charging;
- The battery is discharged during operation, but there are no signs of a violation of the generator;
- AB is recharged;
- the generator makes a lot of noise during operation;
- The AB discharge control lamp does not light up when the ignition is turned on.
If there are no signs of battery charging, then the reasons may be the following:
- blown fuse in the excitation circuit of the generator;
- weakening or damage to the alternator poly V-belt;
- breakage or short circuit in the wires;
- voltage regulator malfunctions;
- malfunction of the voltmeter or discharge control lamp circuit.
If the battery is discharged during operation, but there are no signs of a violation of the generator, the reasons may be the following:
- incorrect actions when turning on the starter;
- overexpenditure of energy;
- weakening of contact connections;
- insufficient voltage generated by the generator (due to a faulty voltage regulator or a loose drive belt tension);
If the battery is recharged, then the reasons may be the following:
- faulty voltage regulator;
- shorting the output of the generator excitation winding to «mass».
If the generator makes a lot of noise during operation, then this could be due to:
- breakage of one of the stator windings;
- malfunction of the rectifier unit;
- loosening the pulley mounting nut;
- contamination of contact rings and brushes;
- lack of lubrication in bearings.
You can independently check only the tension of the alternator drive belt and the condition of the alternator carbon brushes. All other verification work must be carried out at the service station.
