Checking the W terminal of the generator (VW Transporter T3)

Three-phase generators of diesel vehicles have an additional terminal W. A tachometer can be connected to this terminal.

Examination

Start the engine.



(27-444) Measure the voltage between terminal W and ground. The nominal value is 6.9-7.1 V.

If this value deviates, repair the generator. Attention! To avoid overloading the terminals (current no more than 0.5 A) before connecting the measuring device, set the required measurement range on it.
