Lubrication
1. On LT 28, 31 and 35 models there is no need to lubricate the suspension or steering components and the steering box is sealed.
2. On LT 40 and 45 models, the upper and lower bushings must be lubricated at the intervals specified in "Maintenance schedule", using special nipples.
3. The steering box on the LT 40 and 45 models requires periodic topping up. New steering boxes are supplied "dry" and must be filled with the appropriate oil before installation.
Examination
4. Regularly check the bellows on the steering ball joints for breaks. If they are obvious, replace the structure as described in Section 23.
5. At the intervals specified in the "Service Schedule", raise the front of the vehicle for inspection. Having an assistant quickly turn the steering wheel first one way and then the other at an angle of approximately 10 degrees, check the ball joints of the ends for wear and movement relative to the steering rod. If there is no movement, replace the ball joints.
6. On LT 40 and 45 models, firmly grasp each front wheel and rock it side to side and up and down to check for bushing wear. If necessary, replace them as described in Section 16.

7. The steering gear should be considered worn if the steering wheel has a free play when turning that exceeds 15.0 mm, measured at the steering wheel rim.
8. Check all flexible suspension mount bushings for wear. If their holes have become oblong, replace them.
9. Check the shock absorber housings for signs of leakage and check them periodically as described in Section 3.
10. Remember that wheels and tires play a significant role in the behavior of the suspension and steering; contact Section 29.
11. Check front wheel alignment and steering geometry periodically, and if uneven tire wear is noticed, check immediately. For more information, please contact Section 30.
