Bleeding the steering system (VW Caddy 3)

Check the hydraulic oil level and top up if necessary.

Raise the vehicle until the front wheels are completely unloaded.

Run the engine briefly (maximum 2 seconds).

Caution! The pump must not suck in air, and the steering wheel must not be turned under any circumstances.


The pause time between individual engine starts is approximately 30 seconds.
  • Check the hydraulic oil level and top up if necessary.
  • Repeat this process until the oil level becomes constant.
  • With the engine stopped, turn the steering wheel 10 times from lock to lock.
  • Check the hydraulic oil level and top up if necessary.
  • Start the engine.
  • Turn the steering wheel 10 times from lock to lock.

The remaining air in the steering system will come out on its own while the car is moving after 10-20 km.
