- the reservoir cap has a dipstick. If the system is cold, the liquid should be within the zone marked "Kalt", if the liquid is at operating temperature, its level should be within the "Warm" zone (Fig. 267);
- with the engine off, check the hydraulic fluid level;
- if necessary, top up the hydraulic fluid. When the engine is running, no air bubbles should be visible in the fluid;
- start the engine and slowly turn the steering wheel first one way and then the other;
- add hydraulic fluid if necessary.
