- remove the front wheel;
- holding the tie rod by the hexagon, fix it in a fixed position. Loosen the tie rod locknut;

- unscrew the nut fastening the head of the transverse steering rod on the rudder bipod and disconnect the connection with a puller (pic. 264);
- remove the tie rod head, counting the number of turns it took to remove it;
- If it is necessary to replace the hinge cover, then:
- remove the clamps and pull off the corrugated cover;
- put a new boot on the protruding end of the tie rod and install new clamps on it. After that, you will need to adjust the wheel alignment;
- install a new tie rod head and tighten it by the same number of revolutions as the old one was screwed in;
- clean the tie rod head bolt and insert it into the rudder arm. Put a new self-locking nut on it and tighten it to 30 Nm. From the end position, tighten it by another 90°;
- check the front wheel alignment (see section «Front suspension»). Make sure that the safety bellows are not twisted. Tighten the locknut on the inside of the tie rod joint to 55 Nm.
