Removing
Loosen the wheel bolts, raise the vehicle and place it on stands. Remove the wheel, release the shock absorber from below (on the axle housing flange).
Release Stabilizer (if there) on top of the balancer.
Mark with a punch the position of the hub flange in relation to the elastic lever. Disconnect the hub flange from the elastic arm. Pull back the axle shaft cover.
Attention! Make sure that the axle shaft does not fall.
Disconnect the cable from the front of the parking brake lever.
Remove the 5 front fender mounting bolts.
Unscrew the cover of the hub of the elastic lever. Disconnect the outer rubber bushing. Raise the elastic lever with a mount, remove the inner rubber bushing.
Remove the torsion bar by pressing the wing to the side with your hand.
Installation
Check torsion bar for damage, replace if necessary. Paint over the damaged places of the protective coating on the elastic rod, grease the slots.
Attention! Do not rearrange the torsion bars, as they are pre-tightened in opposite directions. Observe labeling (letter "R" or "L" at the end of the torsion bar). Make sure that the diameters of both torsion bars are the same.
Insert the torsion bar into the inner splines of the front pipe.
Adjust camber (see section "Wheel geometry").
Install the inner rubber bushing, coating its surface with talcum powder. Install and adjust the elastic lever.
Install the outer rubber bush, covering it with talcum powder.
Attention! The larger cross section of the rubber bushing, indicated by the word "oben", should be on top.
Fit the spring arm cover and tighten all 4 bolts with spring washers evenly to 40 Nm (4.0 kgcm). If necessary, tighten the cover with two longer bolts diagonally.
Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the resilient arm and axle shaft bearing cover. Raise the elastic arm with the tensioning device so that the lower edge is located above the lower stop.
Fix the axle shaft hub in accordance with the marking (don't forget the spring washers), tighten the bolts to 110 Nm (11.0 kgcm). Attach shock absorbers and stabilizer (if there).
Push in the parking brake cable and adjust it (see section "Parking brake adjustment").
Attention! If the elastic lever was replaced, the wheel alignment must be adjusted.
Install the wheel, lower the vehicle, tighten the wheel bolts to 130 Nm (13.0 kgcm).
