Adjusting the parking brake (VW Beetle)

Raise the rear of the vehicle and place it on supports.

Move the parking brake lever protective cap forward.

Loosen the cable lock nut on the lever.

Tighten the lever by 4 teeth (in vehicles with chassis numbers from N 1 122 474 196 to 1 122961 362 - 6 teeth).



Tighten the cable with the adjusting nuts on the compensating bracket so that the rear wheels can still be turned by hand. When tightening the nuts, hold the brake cable with a screwdriver.

Release the parking brake lever and check whether both wheels can be turned freely by hand. If necessary, loosen the cable.

Lock the adjusting nuts, install the parking brake protective cover, lower the vehicle.
