Adjusting the parking brake (VW Golf 2)

Raise the car from behind so that both wheels hang freely.

Press the brake pedal firmly once.

Remove the extension from the center console in the passenger compartment.

Release the parking brake lever, then tighten it to the 4th click.

Loosen the locknuts on both cables.

Turn the adjusting nuts of both cables until the corresponding wheel turns with great effort. To prevent the cable itself from turning when turning the adjusting nut, it must be held at its front end with a slotted screwdriver.

Release the parking brake. Check that the wheels rotate freely. If everything is OK, tighten both locknuts at the equalizer. Install the center console extension in the passenger compartment. Lower the vehicle.
