Pressure regulator — removal and installation (VW Golf 2)

Pressure regulator (figure 433) bolted to the body in front of the rear left wheel.



To remove the pressure regulator, you need to:

• Add brake fluid to the upper mark on the surface of the reservoir. Place a circle of foil under the plug and press it to seal the reservoir. If the reservoir is sealed, then after unscrewing the pipes from the pressure regulator, significantly less fluid will flow out of it.
• Using an open-end wrench, unscrew the four brake lines from the pressure regulator, marking their location.
• Remove spring 3 and unscrew the bolt securing the regulator housing.

The pressure regulator is installed in the reverse order of removal.

After installing the regulator, it is necessary to remove air from the system (see below).

The pressure regulator must be checked at a service station, and the adjustment consists of changing the preload of the spring 3 of the regulator.
