Adjusting the parking brake (VW Touareg 1)

Adjustment can only be made using the adjusting devices on the two rear wheels. Adjustment cannot be made on the parking brake lever or the transmission module on the center console.

Pay attention to the correct routing of the parking brake cables.

If the brake pads have been replaced, the gap must be set to 6 teeth. Finally, run in the brake pads by braking the car with the parking brake at a speed of approximately 50 km/h. Do not block the rear wheels.

The foot brake lever is released.

Remove the rear wheels.

The brake discs should rotate freely. If not, press the brake pads slightly or pull the brake cables slightly in opposite directions.

Unscrew the locking bolt of the parking brake adjusting nut (Fig. 6.47).
