POLO
Upper hinge
1 - door
2 — bolt, 20 Nm + 90°
3 - nut, 14 Nm
4 — hinge pin
5 - upper door hinge
6 - bolt, 20 Nm + 90°, accessible only from the inside of the vehicle.
7 — bolt, 20 Nm + 90°
Bottom hinge
1 - door
8 — bolt, 20 Nm+ 90°
9 - lower bolt, 20 Nm + 90°
10 - lower door hinge, with door brake.
11 — bolt, 20 Nm + 90°, accessible only from the inside of the vehicle.
12 — bolt, 20 Nm+ 90°
Note: The bolts are self-locking, so after loosening they must be replaced with new ones.
Door adjustment
To properly adjust the front door, it is necessary to loosen the hinges on the A-pillar from the passenger compartment (bolts "6", -11-). To do this, remove the instrument panel next to the upper hinge, and remove the lower trim of the A-pillar next to the lower hinge, see p. 217/220.
At the rear door, to loosen the inner bolts, you need to remove the lower trim of the B pillar.
Note: Other adjustments, such as moving the door up, are useless because the door will then fall back down.
Check the gaps in the door joints. The door is adjusted correctly if, when closed, the gap is uniform on all sides and it does not protrude too far in or out, and its contours match the adjacent parts.
Prescribed joint clearance values/POLO:
- Front Door - Front Wing 3.0+1,0 mm
- Front door - rear wing (3-door model) 3,7+1,0 mm
- Front door - back door (5-door model) 3,7+1,0 mm
- Rear door - rear wing (5-door model) 3,0+1,0 mm
- Door - door threshold 4.0+1,0 mm
(The original material is available on the portal: «www.VWMANUAL.ru»)
If the specified values are not observed, loosen the locking bracket fastening to the body (to pillar B or C respectively) and release the hinge fastening. Move the door to align it.
After alignment, tighten the hinge mounting bolts to a torque of 20 Nm and then use the locked key to turn them in the tightening direction by ¼ turn (90°).
Only IBIZA
The door adjustment for the IBIZA model is performed, in principle, in the same way as for the POLO. Only at the upper hinge, instead of the nut "3", the bolt is unscrewed. During installation, the bolt is replaced with a new one and tightened with a torque of 30 Nm.
Prescribed joint clearance values/IBIZA:
- Front Door - Front Fender 3mm
- Front door - rear wing (3-door model) from 3 to 4 mm
- Front door - back door (5-door model) from 3 to 4 mm
- Rear door - rear wing (5-door model) from 2 to 3.5 mm
- Door - door threshold 4 mm
