Front door/POLO
1 - Upper hinge pin
2 - nut, 14 Nm
3 - corrugated cover
4 — lower bolt (M8x28), 20 Nm + 90°
To remove the door, unscrew only this bolt at the lower hinge. The bolt is self-locking, so always replace it.
5 - pillar A
6 - Electrical plug connectors
7 - front door
Removal
- Remove the corrugated cover "3" from the A-pillar "5".
- Disconnect the "B" plug connectors at the A-pillar.
- Unscrew nut "2" from hinge pin -1 - at the upper hinge.
- Unscrew the lower bolt "4" at the lower hinge. This requires a special slotted key, such as HAZET 2597, and a HAZET 6396 holder.
Note: To remove the door, only remove the lower bolt at the lower hinge.
- Lift the door up from the bottom hinge and place it on a soft pad.
Installation
- Installation is carried out in reverse order.
- Tighten the new lower bolt "4" to a torque of 20 Nm, then use the locked key to turn it in the tightening direction by ¼ turn (90°).
- Tighten nut "2" at the upper hinge pin to a torque of 14 Nm.
- Close the door and check the gaps in the joints with adjacent parts. If necessary, adjust the door, see the relevant chapter above.
Note: The rear door of the 5-door model is removed in a similar manner.
Door/IBIZA
The working operations for the IBIZA car are performed in the same sequence. Only the bolt "2" is unscrewed at the upper hinge. When installing, the bolt is replaced with a new one and tightened with a torque of 30 Nm.
