Connection point for an ohmmeter for measuring the resistance of a Kick-down switch
1. Disconnect the 2-pin electrical connector from the positive downshift switch (kick-down), located in front of the engine compartment.
2. Connect an ohmmeter to the contacts of the kick-down switch and measure the resistance, which should be equal to infinity, see fig. Connection point for an ohmmeter to measure the resistance of a kick-down switch.
3. Slowly press the accelerator pedal. When the accelerator pedal approaches the stop, the resistance at the contacts of the Kick-down switch should abruptly decrease to zero.
4. Otherwise, re-adjust the throttle cable or replace the faulty positive downshift switch.
