Connection point for ohmmeter to measure resistance of Kick-down switch
1. Disconnect the two-pin electrical connector from the kick-down switch located in the front of the engine compartment.
2. Connect an ohmmeter to the contacts of the Kick-down switch and measure the resistance, which should be equal to infinity, see Fig. Where to connect an ohmmeter to measure the resistance of the Kick-down switch.
3. Slowly press the accelerator pedal. As the accelerator pedal approaches the stop, the resistance on the Kick-down switch contacts should suddenly decrease to zero.
4. Otherwise, readjust the gas pedal cable or replace the defective kick-down switch.
