Location of the button (1) for setting the clock and controlling the service indicator

When is the next maintenance due on the lower meter? (daily mileage counter) the speedometer lights up with one of the following symbols indicating the type of maintenance required:
- oil change - service OEL or service Oil;
- inspection service - service INSP.
Approximately one minute after the engine is started, the service indicator light disappears.
The Volkswagen service company that carries out maintenance after completing the work, using special equipment VAG 1551, sets the service indicator to the initial (zero) position.
If the service was not carried out by a Volkswagen service centre, the service indicator must be reset to its original position.
Execution order
1. With the ignition off, press and hold the reset button under the speedometer, see Fig. Button (1) for resetting the service indicator, the readings of which are displayed on the daily mileage indicator (2).
2. Turn on the ignition and release the zero setting button only when the display shows dashes – one of the images of the required type of maintenance. If you press the zero setting button again, the service indicator will switch to the service INSP mode, see Fig. Location of the button (1) for setting the clock and controlling the service indicator.
3. Turn the minute button to the right for digital timepieces, or pull it out for hands-on timepieces. The display will show the following: "service–".

Warning: When the battery is disconnected, the service indicator readings are retained after maintenance.
Warning: If the speedometer is replaced after repair, the service indicator must be reprogrammed. This operation must be carried out at a Volkswagen service center.
