Approximately one minute after the engine is started, the service indicator light disappears.
The Volkswagen service company, which carries out maintenance after the work has been completed, using special equipment VAG 1551, sets the service indicator to the initial (zero) position.
If the service was not carried out by a Volkswagen service centre, the service indicator must be reset in the following order.
Resetting to the original position

1. With the ignition off, press and hold the zero setting button (1) under the speedometer (2 – daily mileage indicator).

2. Turn on the ignition and release the zero setting button only when the display shows dashes – one of the images of the required type of maintenance. If you press the zero setting button again, the service indicator will switch to the service INSP mode.
3. Turn the minute button for setting the watch with digital indication to the right, and pull the button out for watches with arrow indication. The following indication will appear on the display "service - ".
4. Turn off the ignition.
Warning: When the battery is disconnected, the service indicator readings are retained after maintenance.
Warning: If the speedometer is replaced after repair, the service indicator must be reprogrammed. This operation must be carried out at a Volkswagen service center. If the service indicator is not reprogrammed, the vehicle must be serviced according to the "Service Book" and not according to the service indicator.
