Removal and installation the battery (VW Golf 4)

Removal

1. Before removing the battery, turn off the ignition and disconnect all power consumers.



2. Squeeze the fuse holder cover from both sides and fold it aside.

3. Unscrew and remove the negative cable (1) from the battery (see figure Location of fuse holder above battery).

4. Loosen the positive cable.

5. First, unfold the front clamp and then the rear clamp from the battery. To do this, the clamps should be pressed slightly away from the battery.

6. Remove the fuse holder upwards along with the positive cable from the battery.

7. Unscrew the bolt securing the battery and remove it from the vehicle.

Installation

1. When installing the battery, make sure that the ignition and all current consumers are turned off.

2. Install the battery in its designated place and secure it with a bolt. Make sure that the battery mount nose matches the designated recess.

3. Slide the fuse holder and positive cable onto the battery until the clips on the longer side of the battery snap into place.

4. Tighten the positive cable retaining nut securely.



5. Connect the negative cable to the battery.

6. Replace the fuse holder cover and secure both spring clips.
