Electrical equipment. Features of the device (VW Passat B4)

The electrical equipment of Volkswagen "Passat" cars is made according to a single-wire scheme. The second wire is the current-conducting elements of the body, engine and other units and devices ("ground"). The negative terminals of the power sources are connected to the "ground" (battery and generator) and consumers. In this case, the connection to the "ground" is often carried out by a special wire. The voltage in the network is 12 V.

Power is supplied to some consumers via the ignition switch (cars with gasoline engines) or instrument and starter switch (diesel cars). Bypassing the switches are connected the power supply circuits of the side lights, interior lights, luggage compartment lights, hazard warning lights, horn, clock, cigarette lighter, radio, centralized door locking system and electric motor of the engine cooling system fan.

The ignition and instrument switches and the starter with anti-theft locking device have the same design.
