Removal and installation the windshield wiper (VW Passat B4)

The wiper parts are shown in Fig. 8-24. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery. Remove the wiper arms. Unscrew the wiper arm axle bolts (Fig. 8-25). Unscrew the electric motor mounting bolt. Disconnect the plug connector. Remove the windshield wiper mechanism as a whole. Disconnect the electric motor from the mechanism. If it is necessary to remove the arm, mark its position relative to the electric motor shaft before removing. Install the windshield wiper in the reverse order of removal. After installation, make sure that the brushes are in the lower position near the windshield seal during operation of the windshield wiper.
