Check the reliability of all electrical connections at the ignition coil and distributor.
Remove corrosion at the connection points using a wire brush or file; if necessary, spray the connection points with electrical contact spray.
The contacts must be dry, otherwise they must be cleaned and treated with spray.
Bend high-voltage wires with a small radius to check for cracks. Replace wires if necessary.
The VW cleaning and sealing kit with part number 000 998351 is best suited for cleaning electrical connections and sealing caps and plug sockets. It contains sealing compound, electrical contact spray, copper brush and sealing rings.
