Carburetor fault diagnostics (VW Passat B3)

The prerequisites for finding faults according to the table below are the perfect adjustment and operation of the engine, ignition system and all additional units, as well as the correct control of the intake air heating in the air filter. The exhaust system and intake manifold must be tight. In addition, it must be checked whether the fuel is supplied to the carburetor at the prescribed pressure.

Note: item ab means fault no. a, cause no. b, for example, item 2.1: fault 2 ("Engine stalls after cold start"), cause 1 ("Air damper does not open").
