16. Move the gearbox control lever to the "P" position and loosen bolt 2 securing end 1 of the cable (see illustration).

17. Move the control lever forward and backward without moving it from the "P" position. This sets the cable to the optimal position.
18. Move the selector shaft lever 3 (see illustration 2.16) to the "P" position by sliding it back.
To make sure the transmission is in the "P" position, jack up the car and try to turn the front wheels. They should not turn.
19. Tighten bolt 2 (see illustration 2.16).
Warning! The gearbox control lever may remain locked, for example, if the power supply to the locking solenoid valve is interrupted. In this case, proceed as follows.
20. Disconnect the gearshift lever cover and move it to the side (see illustration).

21. Depress the brake pedal or apply the parking brake.
22. Press the yellow plastic wedge as shown by the arrow in Illustration 2.20 and move the lever out of the "P" position.
