Removal and installation
1. Set the gearshift lever to the "N" position.
2. Turn off the ignition.
3. Squeeze the clamp leashes 3 (see illustration), pull the shift cable out of the bracket and disconnect the cable from the shift shaft lever.

Caution! Do not bend the cable.
4. Disconnect the multifunction switch plug.
5. Unscrew nut 1 and remove spring ring and lever 3 from gear shift shaft 4 (see illustration).

6. Carefully bend the tabs of the washer 2 with a screwdriver, unscrew the nut 1, unscrew the bolt 5 and remove the multi-function switch 4 (see illustration).

The switch is installed in the reverse order of removal. Before tightening the gearshift shaft lever nut, first move it all the way back to position "P", and then through two fixed positions to position "N".
Adjustment
The switch is adjusted with the gear shift cable disconnected.
The gearshift shaft must be in the "N" position, the multifunction switch mounting bolts must be loosened, and the gearshift lever must be removed from the shaft.
7. Attach the T10173 switch adjustment tool to shaft 2 and turn switch 1 so that the tool fits onto the lug on the connector (see illustration).

8. Secure the device in this position with bolt 3 and tighten the bolts (arrows in illustration 4.7) with a force of 6 Nm.
9. Remove the fixture and install the removed components.
