Diagram for determining fuel pump performance

Fuel pump performance diagram at 3 bar fuel system pressure

Execution order

1. Disconnect the fuel supply (2) and return (1) hoses from the fuel distributor.
2. Using the additional hose, connect the fuel supply pipe to the measuring vessel.
3. Connect the voltmeter to the battery terminals.
4. Turn on the remote control switch for 15 seconds and measure the voltage on the battery.
5. Measure the amount of fuel in the measuring vessel and determine the fuel pump performance from the diagram (see figure Diagram for determining fuel pump performance).
6. Also measure the fuel pump performance when operating under pressure. To do this, connect a pressure gauge with a shut-off valve to the supply hose and, with the fuel pump running, set the shut-off valve pressure to 3 bar. Measure the fuel pump performance and compare it with the diagram (see figure Fuel pump performance diagram at 3 bar fuel system pressure).
7. If the fuel pump performance is insufficient, recheck the performance with a new fuel filter.
8. If the fuel filter performance is still insufficient, clean the fuel supply system and the filter screen.
9. If the fuel system is clean and in good condition, check the condition of the fuel pump.
10. Remove the remote test system and replace the fuse.
