Verification conditions
The voltage of the vehicle's on-board network must be no lower than 11.5 V.
The engine control device must be in normal condition.
The fuses in the glow plug supply circuit must be in good condition.
Examination
Using an LED Test Light to Check Glow Plug Functionality

If the LED lights up, the glow plug is faulty. If the LED does not light up, the glow plug is faulty and needs to be replaced.
1. Turn off the ignition.
2. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the glow plugs.
3. Connect the test LED to the positive battery terminal and connect the second LED terminal to the glow plugs one at a time.
4. If you have a high-current ammeter, connect it between the positive battery terminal and the glow plug terminal. Measure the current drawn by the glow plug. If the current drawn by the glow plug exceeds 15 amps, the glow plug is faulty.
5. Remove the glow plugs.
6. Check each glow plug for mechanical damage. Burnt or broken glow plug tips may be due to poor fuel spray from the injector. If such damage is present, the fuel injectors must be checked and, if necessary, replaced.
7. The performance of glow plugs can be checked by applying 12 V to them. They should heat up evenly and within the required time interval. The following precautions must be taken:
- hold the glow plug with a special clamp or pliers;
- the glow plug power supply circuit must have a fuse;
- after checking, the glow plug should cool for several minutes.
8. A glow plug in good condition heats up to the working tip turning red within 5 seconds. If it heats up longer or heats up in the middle part rather than at the end of the plug, the plug is faulty and should be replaced.
