Contents: Removal glass ↓ Glass installation ↓
In the models described, starting from August 1981, glass made of laminated glass is installed (safe) material. Such glass does not break into thousands of pieces if damaged. Only cracks appear at the point of impact. Such glass is designated "Laminated" or "Verburd" ("Double-glazed window").
Self-installation of this type of glass is associated with difficulties. We strongly recommend entrusting the installation of glass to a workshop.
Removal glass
To replace the glass you will need an assistant.
If the car has triplex glass, then you need to cut the seal with a sharp knife. Remove the glass.
If the car has single-layer glass, use a narrow wooden or plastic spatula to carefully remove the glued seal in a circle.
Press on the glass inside the car. Do not press on the glass with jerks.
From the outside, an assistant must hold the glass being removed.
Glass installation
To install the glass, you will need a strong cord or a not too thin wire. In addition, you will need an aerosol for the care of synthetic materials. The aerosol should be sprayed on the inner surface of the seal. Then the cord or cable will slide better.

Carefully wipe the glass opening in the car body.
Place the seal on the glass.
Place the wire or cord inside the seal, with the ends overlapping at the bottom, in the middle of the glass.
Place the glass together with the seal against the window opening and align it.
Take hold of the end of the drill or wire and pull it towards the car interior. This will allow the seal to fit onto the edge of the window opening.
At the point where the seal fits onto the edge of the opening, the assistant should hit the glass from the outside with his palm so that it fits precisely.
When installing a triplex windshield, do not hit it with force, as this may cause stretching and cracking.
