Depending on the equipment, generators of different companies can be installed. Removal of graphite brushes from BOSCH and VALEO generators is possible with the generator installed. The length of the new brushes is 12 mm.

Removal

1. Disconnect the ground (-) cable from the battery.

Attention! When disconnecting the battery, the memory of the radio and electronic control units is erased. If the radio is coded, write down the radio code before disconnecting the battery. Without entering the code, the radio will not work after connecting the battery.

2. Unscrew and carefully remove the voltage regulator on the back of the generator (2 screws).

3. Replace the graphite brushes if the length is 5 mm or less, after unsoldering the stranded wire.

4. Check the collector for wear, and if necessary, sharpen and polish it.

5. Clean the contacts, check the condition of the contact springs, replace any that are weak.

Installation

Installation

1. Install the graphite brushes (A) and springs (B) into the brush holder (C) and solder the connections.

2. To prevent solder from getting high on the stranded wire when soldering new graphite brushes, hold it with flat pliers.

Warning! Highly raised solder makes the stranded wire hard and the graphite brushes do not work.

3. The insulating hose of the multi-core wire should be fixed near the soldering point of the existing springs.

4. After installing new graphite brushes, check that they move easily in the brush holder.

5. First, secure the voltage regulator by hand with one screw, then carefully install it in place and secure it permanently.

6. Connect the ground cable to the battery.

Attention! Connect the battery only when the ignition is off, otherwise the injection system control unit will fail.

7. Set the time on the clock.

8. Enter the anti-theft radio code.
