Tire edge wear
Sawtooth tread wear
On the front wheels, slightly more wear on the tire edge in relation to the middle of the tread is normal, and due to the inclination of the roadway, wear on the edge of the tire that points to the middle of the road (left wheel - outside, right wheel - inside), should be much stronger.
Uneven tire wear is the result of (more often) too low or too high tire pressure, incorrect wheel alignment or imbalance, or poor shock absorber performance.
Sawtooth tread wear indicates, as a rule, an overload of the machine.
First of all, pay attention to the prescribed tire pressure, check the tire pressure every fourth week (monthly).
Check pressure only on cold tires. Tire pressure increases when driving at high speed as a result of heating. However, it is completely wrong to bleed air from hot tires.
If the tire pressure is too high, the middle of the tread wears out more because the tires are more bent in the middle part of the tread as a result of high internal pressure.
If the tire pressure is too low, the wheels rest more on the edges of the tread, and the middle part of them sags inward. In this case, wear of the edges of the protectors occurs.
Incorrect wheel alignment and imbalance leads to typical tread wear as indicated in wheel troubleshooting (see subsection 8.9).
