Removal
A special VAG tool is required to remove the belt pulley. Without it, it is impossible to remove the belt pulley, as the pulley bolt has a very high tightening torque. Risk of injury.
Remove the V-belt.
If access to the belt pulley is difficult, unscrew the muffler cover and press it back.
1 - sealing ring, replace; 2 - right engine support; 3 - engine beam; 4 - bolt, without washer; 5 - belt pulley; 6 - key, observe installation position.
Insert special tool 3102 between the engine mount and the belt pulley. To do this, turn the belt pulley so that the holder journal can enter the pulley hole. This locks the pulley.
Place the wrench head with an extension on bolt "4" and tighten the bolt. Remove the device.

Note: For vehicles with triple belt pulley (cars with air conditioning and power steering) there is another special VW device for removing the belt pulley. In this case, the support "C" is installed on the engine beam.

Remove the belt pulley. Remove the key and sealing ring.
Installation
Insert the sealing ring, having previously lubricated it with engine oil.
Insert the key correctly. The flat side should face the engine block.
Put on the belt pulley and then the special device.
Tighten the bolt to a torque of 350 Nm.
Stop the V-belt.
