A faulty injector can also be found by loosening the union nuts of the intake pipes one by one, and at higher idle speeds of the engine. If, after unscrewing the nut, the engine speed does not change, this indicates a faulty injector. The nozzle can be checked in the workshop using a pressure gauge.
The main symptoms of a bad injector are:
- misfire
- knocking in one or more cylinders
- engine overheating
- engine power drop
- too much black exhaust smoke
- high fuel consumption
Dismantling
Clean the fuel inlet lines with petrol and remove them.
Remove nozzles.
Installation
(23-041) use only new heat-insulating gaskets between the cylinder head and the injectors. The indentation should face down as shown in the picture.
Tighten the injectors with a torque of 70 Nm. Tighten intake lines to 25 Nm.
