Cleaning and replacing the air filter insert (VW Transporter T3)

The paper insert is usually cleaned after 15,000 km of mileage and renewed every 30,000 km. When driving on dusty roads, this should be done more often.

Remove the engine ventilation hose from the cylinder head cover.

Open the six filter box latches, remove the snorkel, lift the top of the box and pull out the filter insert.

Cover the air intake with a clean cloth. Clean the filter box thoroughly.

Place the insert dirty side down on a hard surface and tap it gently.

Insert the cleaned or new insert after removing the air intake cover.

Caution! The filter insert must not be cleaned with gasoline or lubricated with oil.

Secure the top of the filter with closures.

Secure the engine ventilation hose with a clamp on the cylinder head cover.
