Checking the crankshaft speed sensor (VW Lt 2d)

1. Turn off the ignition.

2. Disconnect the wiring connector from the crankshaft speed sensor.

3. Measure the resistance between terminals 2 and 3 of the connector (figure 4A.11). Set value: 1 kOhm.

4. If the set value is not achieved, replace the sensor.

5. If the specified value is reached, connect the VAG 1598/30 tester to the control unit wiring (figure 4A.10).

6. Check the wires between the tester and the 3-pin connector for continuity (figure 4A.12): contact 1 + socket 1/04, contact 2 + socket 3/31, contact 3 + socket 3/06. Wire resistance: max. 1.5 ohm.

7. Check the short circuit of the 3-pin connector wires in accordance with the wiring diagram.

Set value: ∞ Ohm.

8. If the specified value is not achieved, replace the CDI injection system control unit.
