The transmission program is selected automatically depending on the speed of the accelerator pedahp slow, smooth pressure on the pedal, the gearbox selects the economy mode, with a sharp press - sport.
The box has a function «kick-down». When the accelerator pedal is pressed all the way down, the gearbox shifts to a lower gear to increase acceleration. This mode is useful when overtaking, when you need to quickly increase the acceleration in order to complete the overtaking faster.
Note: Depending on road resistance, such as when towing a trailer or climbing a steep hill, the transmission may shift to a lower gear, which makes better use of engine power and reduces the likelihood of frequent up and down shifts.
Selector positions (operating mode selection lever)
The selector positions are duplicated on the instrument panel display.
To move the selector, press the button on the lever head.
The gear selector has the following positions:
R (Parking)
In this position, the drive wheels are mechanically locked. You can enable this mode only when the car is completely stopped. When moving the selector from position P to any other, you must press the button on the lever head. If the ignition is on, then to move the selector from position P, you must also press the brake pedal.
R (Reverse)
The reverse gear is engaged. To move the selector to this position, the vehicle must be completely stopped and the engine must be idling. To move the selector to position R from positions P or N, press the brake pedal and the button on the head of the selector lever.
N (Neutral)
The wheels of the vehicle are not locked and can rotate. To move the selector out of position N with the ignition on, press the brake pedal and the button on the head of the selector lever.
D (Drive)
This is the normal selector position for vehicle movement. Four forward gears are selected automatically depending on the speed and engine load.
3
This position is recommended for driving in hilly terrain where the transmission shifts frequently from 3rd to 4th gear and vice versa if mode D is engaged. In this mode, all forward gears are automatically engaged except 4th. This improves engine braking when the accelerator pedal is released.
2
This position is recommended for driving in hilly terrain with steep ascents and descents. In this mode, 1st and 2nd forward gears are automatically engaged. 3rd and 4th gears will not engage. This makes engine braking even more intense when the accelerator pedal is released.
1
This selector position is recommended when driving on very steep hills and descents. The car only moves in 1st gear. Other gears are not included. In this mode, both traction and braking power of the engine is used to the maximum. If the selector is in position 1, the system «Cruise control» will not turn on.
Movement features
The engine can only be started if the selector lever is in positions P or N. To select a different selector position, press the brake pedal. If you press the button on the head of the selector lever with the ignition off, the ignition key cannot be turned.
When the vehicle is stationary, do not press the accelerator pedal to select the selector position.
If the selector lever is accidentally moved to position N while driving, release the accelerator pedal and allow the engine to idle, then select the desired driving mode.
Warnings: With the car stopped, if the gear is engaged, the throttle valve must not be opened under any circumstances (e.g. manually from the engine compartment), otherwise the vehicle will move immediately even if the parking brake is fully applied.
When working on a vehicle, if the engine can be started, apply the parking brake and set the selector to position P.
To move off, turn on one of the driving modes (R, D, 3, 2, 1), wait until the desired shifts occur in the gearbox, press the accelerator and move off.
