Before launch
1. Inspect the area around the car before getting into it.
2. Adjust the seat, backrest, headrest and steering column.
3. Adjust the outside and inside rear view mirrors.
4. Close all doors.
5. Fasten your seat belt.
6. Apply the parking brake.
7. Turn off unnecessary electrical appliances.
8. If the car is equipped with an automatic transmission, set the selector to position P or N.
9. Insert the key into the ignition lock, unlock the steering shaft and turn on the ignition.
Starting procedure
1. Do not press the accelerator pedal.
2. Turn on the starter and do not release the ignition key until the engine starts. Do not keep the starter on for more than 10 seconds. If the engine does not start, turn off the starter, pause for about 30 seconds, and then try to start again.
Caveats:
- Do not warm up the engine in place. The engine warms up better while driving.
- Do not let the engine run at maximum speed until it has warmed up.
- Do not start the engine of a vehicle equipped with a catalytic converter from a tow if this requires more than 50 m. Otherwise, unburned fuel will enter the catalyst and damage it.
