5-speed gearbox
Press the clutch pedal, engage the gear and release the pedal smoothly. Make sure that your foot does not remain on the clutch pedal while driving. The pedal is not a footrest. Do not press the clutch pedal if you have to stop on an incline.
Shifting down at low engine speeds or shifting up at high engine speeds will overload the engine and possibly cause detonation. Shifting at engine speeds close to maximum engine speeds will cause rapid engine wear and reduce fuel economy.
Engage reverse gear (R) only after the vehicle has come to a complete stop.
6-speed gearbox
The positions of the gearshift lever are shown in the figure. The rules for using the gearbox are the same as for the 5-speed gearbox.
