Injector performance test
1. Disconnect the air intake pipe.
2. Start the engine and leave it to idle, or if the engine does not start, turn the crankshaft with the starter. The injector fuel injection process should take place (pic. 5.50).
3. Turn off the ignition and check the injector for fuel leaks. Leakage should be no more than 2 drops per minute.
4. If fuel injection does not occur, check fuel regulator and injector activation.
Injector activation test
5. Remove the air filter.
6. Disconnect wiring connector 1 from injector 2 (pic. 5.51).
7. Connect the VAG 1527 diode tester to pins 2 and 3 of the connector.
8. Try to start the engine with a starter and check the supply voltage. The tester light should flash.
9. Tester light flashes: turn off the ignition and replace the injector.
10. If the bulb does not blink, switch off ignition. Connect the tester VAG 1598/18 to the wiring harness of the engine control unit (rice. 5.45). Check the wire between track 3 of the harness connector and socket 7 of the tester for an open circuit. Wire resistance: max. 3.5 ohm.
11. Check the wire between pin 2 of the wiring connector and the relay base for an open circuit. Wire resistance: max. 2.5 ohm.
12. In addition check up short circuit one on another wires. Specification resistance: ∞ Ohm.
13. If no fault is found in the wires, then replace the engine control unit.
Injector resistance test
14. Disconnect wiring connector 1 from injector 2 (pic. 5.52).
15. Check the resistance with a multimeter and auxiliary wires from VAG 1594 between pins 2 and 3 of the wiring connector 2. Specification resistance: 1.2-1.6 ohm (at a temperature of 15-30°С).
