The vehicle identification sticker (Fig. 1.1) is located to the left of the spare wheel well. The identification sticker is also pasted into the service book.

The manufacturer's plate contains the following information about the vehicle:


  • A - vehicle identification number;
  • C - typical code.

Note: Vehicles exported to some countries do not have a nameplate.

The identification plate (Fig. 1.3) is visible when the driver's door is open at the bottom of the B-pillar.

The letter designation and engine number are located on a sticker attached to the timing cover.

The engine code is also indicated on the vehicle identification plate and on the cylinder block above the gearbox.

The engine number consists of a maximum of nine characters (alphanumeric). Part one (maximum 3 letters) represents the "engine letter designation", and the second part (six-digit) "serial number". After the production of more than 999,999 engines with the same letter designation, the first of the six positions of the numbers is replaced by a letter.
