Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) - Figure I


The vehicle identification number (VIN) plate is riveted to the upper front cross member near the hood latch (figure I). The plate indicates the chassis (body) number, the gross weight of the vehicle and the permissible load on the front and rear axles.

The chassis number is stamped on the inner panel of the right wing, in the upper part of the suspension strut mounting niche (figure II).

Engine number - figure III, IV


The engine number is applied in one of three places, depending on the engine model.



On 1.1 and 1.3 liter engines produced before February 1980, the number is stamped on the rear surface of the cylinder block, under the ignition distributor (A, figure III).

On later 1.1 and 1.3 liter engines, the number is located at the front of the cylinder block, next to the valve cover and timing belt cover (B, Figure III).
