Golf cars. The vehicle identification number is embossed on the bulkhead of the engine compartment (see arrow in illustration 1.0). To read the number, it is necessary to remove the sealing gum 1.
The number is also found on the nameplate in the trunk of the vehicle, in the spare wheel well (see arrow in illustration 1.0a).
Touran cars. The identification plate for five-seat vehicles is affixed to the bottom of the luggage compartment on the left side (see illustration 1.0b). For seven-seater models, the plate is located on the rear cross member of the luggage compartment on the left side under the cover.
Identification number decoding
The nameplate contains the following information (see illustration 1.0c):
- 1 - identification number;
- 2 - vehicle type, engine power/gearbox:
- 3 - number of the engine and gearbox;
- 4 - number of paintwork and interior trim;
- 5 - numbers of equipment related to additional equipment.
Location of engine number and lettering
The designation of the engine and its number are indicated on the sticker on the cover of the timing gear (see arrow in illustration 1.0c).
Attention! On vehicles with a petrol engine, it may be necessary to remove the top protective cover from the engine to read the engine number, see the relevant chapter.
Attention! The designation of the engine and its number are also stamped on the left side of the cylinder block under the junction of the block head and cylinder block. In addition, the engine designation is indicated on the rating plate in the service book, as well as on the plate in the spare wheel opening.
