Depending on the equipment, the vehicle may be equipped with driver and passenger airbags, side airbags and airbags that protect the head from impact, as well as seat belt tensioners.
A rear-facing child seat must not be installed on the front passenger seat. The exception is a special child seat with an automatic recognition system.
Attention! For safety reasons, we do not recommend that you carry out repairs yourself on parts related to the airbag system or belt tensioners.
Before removing and installing the driver's airbag, the following precautions must be observed:
1. Disconnect the wire terminal from the negative pole of the battery «masses» (-), by turning off the ignition first.
2. Insulate the battery terminals to prevent accidental contact. At the time of connecting the battery in the cabin should not be people.
3. Set the wheels to straight ahead. This corresponds to the neutral (average) steering wheel position.
4. Remove any static electricity before removing the airbag unit. To do this, just touch the latch of the lock or body with your hand.
Precautions related to all airbags
5. Never install elements of airbags from another car, as well as the steering wheel of another car - on your car.
When replacing, always use new parts.
6. Have the airbag system and belt pretensioners checked after any minor accident without airbag deployment at an appropriate workshop.
Have the airbag system checked by a specialist workshop.
7. Do not test the system with a test light, voltmeter, or ohmmeter.
8. Replace the components of the airbag system with new ones if they have fallen from a height of more than 0.5 m.
9. Do not expose the components of the airbag system to high temperatures or open flames. Exposure to temperatures above +100°C is not allowed.
10. Keep airbag system components free of water, grease, or oil. They must be removed immediately with a dry cloth or rag.
11. Stow the airbag removed from the steering wheel so that the airbag cover faces up.
If the removed airbag is not lying down, the charge will be thrown out if the explosive device is accidentally activated, which can lead to injury.
12. Do not leave the removed airbag unattended.
13. Do not disassemble the airbag unit. In case of failure, the unit should be completely replaced.
Due to the fact that the airbag contains an explosive, the removed airbag should be stored under lock and key.
The airbag must be disposed of by a workshop.
Before scrapping the car, you should contact a workshop to dismantle the cushions.
There must be no foreign objects between the airbag and the passenger.
The distance between the passenger and the air bag must be sufficient for its deployment in the event of an accident.
It is not allowed to paste the steering wheel, instrument panel and front seat backs directly above the airbag unit or attach foreign objects to them.
Clothes hooks should only hang light toilet items without hangers. Do not leave foreign objects in the pockets of your clothes.
When the ignition is switched on, the airbag/seatbelt warning light should come on and then turn off after 4 seconds. If the light does not light up, then this is evidence of a malfunction in the system.
Side airbags
It is allowed to use only special covers for the front and rear seats that do not block the side airbags. These cases are labeled «Airbag».
It is not allowed to install covers on the seat backs that block the functioning of the side airbags.
Do not use seat mats or cushions that affect the functioning of the airbags.
If the cover is damaged (rips or cigarette burns) near the airbag unit, it must be replaced for safety reasons, because in this case, the deployment of the airbag when deployed will not be carried out correctly.
Do not pierce the seats near the airbags with a needle or other identical object.
Airbags in the side pillars
Do not twist or kink these pillows.
If the upholstery of the rack is damaged, replace it with a new one. Do not repair damaged upholstery.
