Auto-dimming rearview mirror

Automatic dimming of the interior rearview mirror is carried out steplessly if the driver from behind is blinded. The system consists of a mirror and electronics with two photo sensors.
The electronic mirror control unit (1) receives information from the photo sensors (2 and 3). If the illumination from behind is greater than from the front, the electronic unit supplies voltage to the conductive coating (8), which is located between the protective glasses (4 and 6) of the mirror. Depending on the magnitude of the supplied voltage, the transparency of the electrolyte layer (5) changes. The higher the voltage supplied, the darker the electrolyte layer. As a result, the intensity of light reflection from the mirror (7) decreases.
