Auto-dimming rearview mirror
- 1 - control unit;
- 2 - front photosensor;
- 3 - rear photosensor;
- 4 - protective glass;
- 5 - electrolyte layer;
- 6 - protective glass;
- 7 - mirror;
- 8 - electrically conductive layer
The automatic dimming of the interior rear-view mirror is infinitely variable if the driver is dazzled from behind. The system consists of a mirror and electronics with two photo sensors.
Electronic mirror control unit (1) receives information from photo sensors (2 and 3). If the backlight is greater than the front, the electronics unit energizes the electrically conductive cover (8), which is located between the protective glasses (4 and 6) mirrors. Depending on the magnitude of the applied voltage, the transparency of the electrolyte layer changes (5). The more voltage is applied, the darker the electrolyte layer. As a result, the intensity of light reflection from the mirror decreases (7).
