Interior rear view mirror with rain sensor

The rain sensor is located at the base of the rearview mirror. When it starts to rain, the sensor automatically switches on the windshield wipers. The prerequisite for the automatic switch-on of the windshield wipers is that the windshield wipers must be switched on in intermittent mode.
The rain sensor illuminates the windshield with an LED. When the glass is dry, the LED beam is reflected from the glass surface and recorded by a photodiode. If the windshield is wet, the light beam is reflected to a lesser extent. The reflection of light from the windshield depends on the strength of the rain.
Removal
1. Separate the rear view mirror base covers (1 and 5) from each other and remove them.
2. Remove the electrical connector (4) from the mirror bracket (3) and disconnect it.
3. By moving downwards, detach the mirror bracket from the support.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
