Setting the ignition timing (VW Golf 3)

The ignition timing is controlled electronically in conjunction with the fuel injection system and so that the engine's needs are met under all other conditions. Although the ignition timing can be checked in any Volkswagen workshop, electronic test devices are used for checking, in which the ignition timing is indicated digitally. This check takes place during the general check of the idle speed, the CO component and the ignition timing.

To expand your knowledge, I would like to mention that during normal operation, the ignition timing is within 6-7.5°, before top dead center.
