The brake support plates can be removed after removing the brake shoes and wheel brake cylinder and disconnecting the four mounting screws at the end of the axle. Tighten the screws to a torque of 60 Nm, and also secure the end of the axle. Place shaped washers under the screw heads, making sure that their larger bearing surface faces the brake support plate.
