Remove the top part of a casing of a gear belt.
Remove the block head cover.
Loosen the toothed belt tensioner, remove the belt.
If necessary, replace the intake camshaft, remove the toothed pulley,
Using a scriber, remove the spring washer from the cavity in the end of the shaft.
Mark the direction of movement of the intake camshaft drive chain. Otherwise, there will be increased chain wear.
For designation, mark the outside of the chain (like paint).
Warning. In no case do not use a punch for this!
Remove the intake camshaft bearing caps: first caps 5, 7, as well as the rearmost (pic. 171).
Then you should gradually loosen the covers 6 and 8 crosswise.
On the exhaust camshaft, remove covers 1 and 3, as well as the extreme rear.
Gradually remove covers 2 and 4 crosswise.
Pull out the camshafts. If possible, do not change the position of the chain sprockets.
Sprockets should not be removed from the camshaft.
When installing the drive chain, pay attention to the travel direction mark.
Round embossed marks on the camshaft sprockets must be at the height of the top edge of the cylinder head (arrows in fig. 172).
Install the camshaft covers. They have recesses that should be directed forward (in the direction of travel).
The cover bolts should be tightened in the reverse order of disassembly, taking into account the following:
- Insert the spring washer into the notch of the exhaust camshaft.
- Install the camshaft sprocket and tighten to 65 Nm.
- Put a toothed belt, adjust the valve timing.
